REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN A VISA TO ENTER IRAN
Passport
Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. U.S Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least one blank visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport is not valid at least 6 months beyond your intended stay, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.
Photo
Send 1 recent professional passport-type photograph. Females age 9 and up must cover their hair.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.
Proof of Departure
Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.
Important Notice
Until further notice the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is only issuing authorization to tourist visitors who have purchased their hotels through a Iranian tour operator and use a minimum of ground services (transfers, transportation, and guide).
Visa authorization number must be submitted at time of processing.
Unaccompanied female visitors are required to be accompanied by an individual guide
