Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. U.S Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least one blank visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport is not valid at least 6 months beyond your intended stay, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

 

Please send 2 recent professional passport-type photographs.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

 

 

Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

 

 

A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Consulate General of Sri Lanka, Visa Section, New York, NY
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed.
Name and address of reference to be visited.
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required.
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.
Your sponsor in Sri Lanka must send a fax to the Consualte General of Sri Lanka in New York., stating the name of the applicant, confirming the business trip (fax must include company address and type of business). For stay over 7 days, the letter must be sent via the Immigration Department in Colombo.

The Sri Lanka business visa is usually issued for multiple entry within up to 5 years provided the passport remains valid, for a period of stay not exceeding 30-180 days each entry.

Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued. TDS can assist with obtaining U.S. Passports, whether new issue, renewal, or obtaining additional visa pages for a valid passport.

Your application will be hand carried to the Consulate Office, and is usually processed in 4-5 business days.
